About

The SVSU ITS department prides itself on partnering with the campus community, to provide exemplary service and leadership in leveraging technology solutions that support, empower and adapt to the academic and administrative affairs of the University. Our goals are to:
  1. establish a customer service orientated culture that exceeds expectations, becomes an IT presence in university-wide initiatives, and develops action plans based on metrics.
  2. improve the security of SVSU’s information technology environment, concentrating on an agile and effective approach to addressing cyber threats.
  3. ensure strategic, effective, efficient and comprehensive deployment of resources throughout the institution.
  4. recruit, utilize, develop and retain talented ITS staff in an effective and efficient manner which promotes professional fulfillment, development and growth.
ITS offers a variety of services, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, assisting with software installation and configuration, and providing training on various software applications. Additionally, ITS manages SVSU's network, enterprise applications and classrooms to ensure that all hardware and software are up-to-date and functioning properly so students, faculty, and staff can focus on their academic and professional goals without worrying about technical difficulties.

Computer Labs and Classrooms

Modern Classrooms Designed for Student Success

Saginaw Valley State University features approximately 180 classrooms across 10 academic buildings, each designed to support our commitment to small class sizes and personalized learning. With an average capacity of 35 students, our classrooms foster meaningful interaction between faculty and students.

Every classroom is equipped with state-of-the-art instructional technology, including:

  • An instructor station with a computer, document camera, and DVD/Blu-ray player
  • Projector and speaker systems for clear audio-visual presentations
  • Discipline-specific equipment tailored to the needs of various academic programs
  • Full support for lecture capture software, available upon faculty request

These features ensure a consistent, high-quality learning environment across campus.

Expanding Active Learning Opportunities

With the recent renovation of Brown Hall, we’ve nearly doubled our capacity to offer interactive, student-centered learning spaces. These new active learning classrooms are purposefully designed to foster small-group collaboration and boost student engagement and retention.

Campus Computer Labs

SVSU offers a variety of computer labs across campus, each with different hours, hardware, and software to meet the diverse needs and schedules of our students, faculty, and staff. Common applications like Microsoft Office are widely available, while specialized software such as MATLAB and SPSS can be found in labs most frequently used by students in related majors. To view lab schedules, equipment details, and software availability, please visit the mySVSU portal.
